July 18, 2016 / Artisan Roasting, Farm to Cup Organic

Two New Exquisite Single-Origin Organic Coffees have been added to our current offerings:

#1 Peru El Palto ‘Sr. Fernandez’: A splendid washed Typica varietal from the Cajamarca region grown by Sr. Denis W. Alarcon Fernandez. We roast to City Roast level with a nice balance of body and acidity. This has dominant creamy milk chocolate notes with raisin in the cup.  More about the green beans and their origin: This lot comes from the Asociacion de Productores Cafetaleros Juan Marco El Palto (JUMARP), also known as “El Palto.” The cooperative is located in the Amazonian Andes in northern Peru. Founded in 2003 by 35 small farmers, the association now consists of 189 active members with a total area of 549 hectares in production. All members produce organic and Fair Trade Certified coffee. Women represent 40 of the organizations families, including continual representation on their Board of Directors. The Association’s mission is to meet the demand of our buyers in specialty coffee allowing an increase in income for the farmer member and his family.

#2 Bolivia Amor deDios: Varietals include Typica, Catuai and Caturra grown in the La Paz region of the Caranavi Province by ASOCAFE Co-op. At the mill it is wet processed and sun dried on patios. We roast to a City Roast level resulting in a flavor profile of sweet brown sugar, marmalade with a medium creamy body. More on the green beans and their origin: ASOCAFE is located in the Yungas region of western Bolivia, characterized by lush tree-covered mountains that plunge into deep river valleys. ASOCAFE has two centralized wet mills that allow for better quality control. This lot is from the Amore de Dios washing station located at 1,650 meters above sea level and where coffee cherries from the highest elevations are delivered.
